Update 15th July: attending appointments at Leeds Fertility

From 19 July patients will still be asked to wear a mask, sanitise hands and maintain social distancing when attending the unit.

We will continue to work to the NHS and Leeds Teaching Hospitals guidelines to best maintain our service for our patients.

At present, partners or companions are only able to join patients to appointments for pregnancy scans, or if they have an appointment themselves and therefore a reason to attend the unit. This is to keep numbers manageable and allow us to provide our service to a greater number of people.

At this time, we are not taking any decisions to allow partners or companions to join other scans or procedures.

Working within the guidelines, this is not possible without having to reduce the number of patients that we are able to treat each day. Any changes to this would increase the waiting times for all of our patients, which are already longer than we would like, and make it difficult for us to manage the number of people on the unit.

We want to keep our workforce healthy and well and provide the best possible service.

This approach will be reviewed often and as soon as we can safely and logistically allow partners and companions to attend other appointments we will do so

We remain open for treatments and services under the guidelines detailed in our FAQs, and are continuing to accept referrals.

Please do not attend the clinic if you are awaiting the results of a covid-19 test or if you have any of the symptoms, which are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Leeds Fertility and Leeds Teaching Hospitals have robust procedures to protect staff and patient safety in the clinic. Please follow the instructions and signage within the department to keep yourself and our staff safe.
