Dr Harish Bhandari
Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery
Mr Harish Bhandari is a Consultant Gynaecologist and an Accredited Sub-specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer post at the University of Leeds. He is the Clinical Governance Lead for Gynaecology and Leeds Fertility.
As well as infertility, assisted conception and reproductive and benign gynaecology surgery, he has special clinical and research interests in recurrent miscarriage, recurrent implantation failure and endometrial immunology.
Harish graduated (MBBS) in 1999 from Karnatak Medical College, India and then worked as a Doctor in the Indian Army for 5 years before relocating to the UK in 2004. He successfully completed post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from various district general and tertiary hospitals in the UK. He became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2010.
Harish did three years of clinical research fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at Centre for Reproductive Medicine, Coventry and University of Warwick. He was awarded Doctorate of Medicine (MD) by University of Warwick for research work evaluating the effects of obesogenic environment on peri-implantation endometrium.
Harish undertook two years RCOG-accredited sub-specialty Training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery from Newcastle Fertility Centre at Life.
Harish has authored text book chapters and articles in various medical journals. He has attended national and international meetings and conferences presenting his research work and as an invited speaker.
Harish sits on the RCOG Subspecialty Training Committee and National Casemix Office Expert Working Group. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and enjoys training nurses, sonographers, general practitioners and patients through various activities and meetings. He is a British Fertility Society recognised trainer for five certification modules. He serves on the General Medical Council (GMC) as an Examiner for the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board test. He is an Associate Editor of Global Reproductive Health, an international multi-disciplinary journal.
